Areas of Expertise

Couples/Marriage Counseling

During my postdoctoral fellowship, I was trained in couples counseling. My training combined with my unique ability to remain objective and to teach perspective training to couples enables me to help them achieve a successful outcome.

Adult Therapy

My training in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as empathic methods of therapy enable to assist adults struggling with depression and anxiety.

Assessments

I was trained in assessments by the forerunners in this field. My professors and supervisors authored the most commonly used guidelines on the most effective methods of assessment. Through their training, I have become sensitive to the nuances necessary to assess and diagnose individuals. In addition, I received further training beyond my doctorate in Autism evaluations, and am skilled in Autism diagnosis for educational purposes or for acceptance into OPWDD.

My Approach

In assessments, I use the most up to date methods of evaluating children and adults. Understanding the theory behind these assessments enables me to test with fidelity, but that is only the first step.

My mission is to ensure that all children receive the most appropriate and beneficial services. I work on making sure that all children I assess are as comfortable as possible. Once results are ready, I work with parents so that they fully understand the results of the assessments and are comfortable with the support being recommended. I am also available to attend IEP meetings.

In couples therapy, I use a combination of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Humanistic Therapy (unconditional empathy) to ensure that all clients feel heard and understood. I teach strategies to communicate more effectively and to better empathize with each partner.
